Delaware County, Pennsylvania Real Estate Blog: Where Are They?

Where Are They?

This Cooper's Hawk has been hanging around our yard lately. We have seen feathers on the ground from two recent catches.  This appears to be an immature Cooper's Hawk because of the tail stripes and the white and brown speckled breast feathers.  He/she was looking hard for movement below bushes.

Dear Gloria,

We have those in our area. They seem to move around, hanging out in one copse & then another. An owl too.

I have such respect for Prey Birds, they look so majestic and serious and ready for action on a moment's notice.... reminds me of my days in the military, Endre

God's beautiful creation in this Coopers Hawk, other birds must be packing up to move out of neighborhood. Thanks for sharing.

Goria, never seen a Coopers Hawk, and you did a great job with capturing these photos!  Thanks for sharing.

Gloria- I am not a fan of birds of prey because they go after the song birds but I know it is part of nature. Great capture.

Very interesting birds, Gloria.  On the way home from swimming laps today, I was driving through a rural part of the county.  I saw a flock of the biggest Wild Turkeys I've ever seen.  They are not uncommon here, but the size of these was off the charts.

Endre Barath, Jr. yes they are ready and very able.  Happy 2019!

Bob Ratliff other small birds and squirrels do take shelter when such a bird is in the area. Happy 2019!

Thank you Joan Cox .  I am amazed they are at our feeder!  Happy 2019!

Sharon Lee I prefer the hawks to the well fed house cats that roam our yard and hunt only for play.  Happy 2019!

Myrl Jeffcoat must be plentiful food availble for those wild turkeys!  They are fun to watch. Happy 2019!

I would agree with that thought as well. Happy 2019.

Very neat photos, Gloria.  I like having these birds around as they keep a good eye out for nasty varmints.

We have a lot or Red Tail Hawks around our neighborhood. The squirrels go crazy when one of them lands on someone's front yard or mailbox and hangs out for a while

Gabe Sanders yes they are helpful and fun to watch.

Andy Brown-Climer School of Real Estate yes the squirrels start making their call to alert all smaller critters and birds.

Thanks for stopping by.
