Delaware County, Pennsylvania Real Estate Blog: Recycle Those Used Glasses

Recycle Those Used Glasses

Eye Glasses RecycleDo you hold on to old eye glasses just in case you might need them?

Do they end up hanging around for a few years or more?

Well maybe you should consider donating them to an organization that will recycle them for someone in need.

All it takes is locating a drop off box, usually a repurposed mailbox standing outside a library, a bank or even outside an eyeglass store.

One organization in Delaware County that devotes time to this effort is the Lions Club of Springfield.

Here are a few drop off locations in Springfield as per Lions Club's website:
(Look for the yellow and blue mailbox that has the Lions' Club log on the side)

-Springfield Library

-Sharon Savings Bank at 5 E Springfield Rd

-Moore Eye Institute, Springfield Medical Building next to Springfield Hospital

-Saxer Ave across from PNC Bank

-Pilgrim Gardens Shopping Center at Marchese Opticians

-In front of M&T Bank at 11 E Hinkely Ave, Ridley

Thank you Lions Club of Springfield for doing this eyeglass collection for the past 80 years!!!

Gloria what great advice, lucky for us our Eye Doctor has a recycle bin in his office and he gives it away to good causes, so with that said I always keep the last pair but get rid of all the ones before:)Endre

These are great programs, Gloria, and over the years I've contributed glasses, readers, frames just in this way.

Good morning Gloria and Doug. I really like this. I just don't understand holding onto things period. Great suggestion.

Good to hear Endre Barath, Jr. . Your eye doctor sets a good example as do you.

Nina Hollander  glad to hear you have contributed to helping others with your glasses.

Sheila Anderson Thank you. Yes holding on to things that can never be reused, like older prescription glasses does not make sense.  I can understand holding on to one pair as back up just in case you lose or break a pair, and need them until you get a new pair.
