How Far is Springfield Delaware County PA To the Jersey Shore?

Cape May NJOne of the great things about living in Delaware County PA is how close it is to the New Jersey shore, or as locals say, the Jersey shore.  No it is not called the beach like other parts of the country may say, it is the Jersey shore.

According to Google Maps, from Springfield, the town where our office is located, to Cape May, New Jersey, the southern most town in New Jersey, the distance can be 109 miles (roughly 2 hours 12 minutes) or 91.6 miles (roughly 2 hours 15 minutes).  These 2 routes are the main routes people will take from Springfield.

Cape May Hawk WatchThere are 2 bridges that most locals use to get over the Delaware River into NJ, the Walt Whitman and the Commodore Barry Bridge. Yes there is a toll heading back over the bridges.

We prefer the Commodore Barry since it immediately takes you into the not so developed part of South Jersey. There are farms with produce stands along the way, when in season, and it is a more scenic route.

We have taken even more scenic routes on Doug's motorcycle, to get off the beaten track, but that is another story.

Ocean City NJ in WinterNow if you are only wanting to go to Atlantic City that is a bit shorter. According to Google Maps, 69 miles 1 hour 38 minutes from Springfield to AC.

There are many wonderful towns to visit at the Jersey shore, all with a different flavor for fun in the sun, entertainment, eateries, bird watching, walking on the boards and the beach, light houses, Lucy.

It is good to know that a day trip or a vacation is not too far away when you live in Delaware County PA!

Hi Gloria... I know Cape May quite well... my mother lived in Ocean City for a number of years and my brother has owned a home there for over 30 years and has retired there. I spent my summer between college graduation and graduate school in 1970 in Ocean City and worked part-time at the library. Haven't been back there in probably 20 years... but would love to see it again. And I remember Atlantic City from before it was all built up as a gambling "mecca."

Gloria, it was not a bad trip to Atlantic City from Jamison, probably a couple hours.   You are lucky to have a beach somewhat close.

Evelina Tsigelnitskaya It is a great getaway!

Sharon Lee yes it could be a great part of the east coast for you to visit with your kitty!  Alot of camping spots along the coast.

Nina Hollander Oh yes AC has changed a lot.  It is on the rebound again after a few ups and downs.  OC is still so popular with young families, because of the boardwalk and the smaller beach.  Maybe one day you will visit to see how things have changed/remained the same.

Gloria Todor - This is really informative! To think, people who live in Delaware County, PA can get to the Jersey shore without the expense of airfare is really a great incentive to move to your area! It would cost someone like me in TX so much more!

I hope you're enjoying summer this time of year and that life is good!

Thanks for stopping by Patricia Feager .  And so many people do head down to the shore when school lets out.

Summer is good.  Hope yours is also.

Gloria I loved this post and find it funny that you can drive 90+ miles in your part of the world in about 2+hrs... in my market that could be a 15mile trip:)Endre

Funny you should say that Endre Barath, Jr.  It can be a lot longer Friday afternoons and Sunday afternoons for the return home.  Yes your area is full of cars all the time it seems...day and night!
