On September 20, 2016, Emily Starbuck Crone & Daniel Tonkovich of Nerdwallet.com reported after extensive research suggested the fallowing tips for home prices increase and decrease during the year.

Summer is typically the most expensive time to buy a home. Sale prices fall in autumn. Home sale prices are usually lowest in winter. Generally, in the Northeast region home prices decrease in the range of 8.0% in the winter from Summer.

Obviously, it is opposite for home sellers.

We often tell buyers the best time to buy is when other are not looking, early in the year when there is snow on the ground and it is difficult to get around. Less competition and often as a result lower prices.
