Delaware County, Pennsylvania Real Estate Blog: Rose Tree Tavern Renovation Is Underway in Media, Pennsylvania!

Gloria:  It is so great that such a "storied" building that has been a part of the countryside for such a long time... is being renovated.  The updating looks great so far.  Too bad it couldn't stay a "tavern."  Just my silly opinion.  I wonder if they could combine what the locals have planned for it... and save some room for the tavern part.  Anyway... great news... and a great post, and great photos.  Nicely done.

I think this is a great "Localism" post... so I am going to hit the "suggest" button in the hopes that it will get featured.  Cross your fingers.  <smile>

I am very glad to see that this building is being restored!  Far too many of our treasure haven't been.  Keep us updated on the progress!

So good to see that the Rose Tree Tavern is now undergoing a renovation and will be put to good use.

Karen, Thanks so much for your comments.  I am with you about bringing back the tavern experience.  It could be a great attraction to have it operating as a period piece from it's earlier days -- costumes and simple food and beer offerings--at least at the grand opening.

Tony, Yes we lose too many buildings around here.  I'm so glad this one has survived.

Doug and Gloria - It is always a great thing when communities realize the wonder of historical buildings.  I'm glad this one is being preserved and renovated!

Myrl, It is a great thing.  I remember this place from years ago when is sat so close to the road and am so glad that there were people willing to fight for it's survival.  I remember many other buildings from my youth that did not have the same fate and I wish I had a photo of them.

Yes very happy about the renovations to the Old Tavern and also wish at least part of it could be used as it was in the old days.  Do you know if part of the tavern was added to over the years?  It seams that one section of stone is different than the other.  Also, are all 4 sides going to be stone?  One side is stucco.

I love to see these old buildings restored instead of torn down and replaced with some modern design.   You just can't capture that original character and charm of the older architecture in a new construction.  Be sure to post the completed pictures when they're done!

Mike, Yes it was amazing to see this get prepped and moved.  A very big deal.

Shirley, I forget the history on this....will have to research again.  It is stucco right now, but not sure if that is the end result.  Stone would be my preference!
