I monitor Blue Bird Houses to help keep track of Blue Birds (and other birds) in Delaware County. Yesterday I got caught in the rain, but still enjoyed seeing what my feathered friends were up to. And sure enough they have been busy getting ready for their first group of little ones. I do not have a zoom lens so I was not able to get a photo of the young couple that I could hear in the trees above. ---Gloria

Great advice, we all need to stop, sit and enjoy the moment more often. Thanks for the reminder.
Hey,Doug and Gloria. A break right now would be great. Thanks and take care, Jim
Gloria, appears to be a comfy pitstop along the way, that's quite a hunk of bench top there. Thanks!
How fantastic! Have you considered getting this site certified as a Habitat through NWF?
Thank you for sharing Gloria. That bench in the back ground is looking a little too prety!
Hi Gloria,
Isn't it fun to watch the new Spring life ( birds and other creatures) celebrate the new beginning. I helped a couple of morning doves build their place last year and it was so wonderful and they trusted me to come around and keep up with them as they took turns nesting. Regretfully , even though in a handing basket covered over, the Black Crows found the eggs and took them. Broke my heart. The think the same couple are back because they are not affected by my presence. Of course they look the same but for sure I can't be sure. :-)
Wonderful advice in your title, and what a fun thing you are doing - keeping track of the little ones! An enjoyable pastime I'd say!
Debi
I too wish I could afford a nice zoom lens for my camera =( But I make do, just as you did. And I enjoy seeing the nest, and knowing that little ones will soon be appearing =)
Roger, you're welcome!
Jim, thanks for stopping and take care too.
Kevin, the bench top was made the end of last summer by the caretaker of this property. Nice to have them around.
Laura, Actually this piece of land is the eastern headquarters for the Natural Lands Trust that helps preserve green spaces. Good thought though!
Robert, maybe it would be a great piece of wood for one of your wood projects. Any new creations lately?
William, did you get some great shots of the morning doves nest building? Yes sad when bigger birds do that to smaller birds. Morning doves are so lay back. I would not be surprised if they were the same birds from last year, giving it a go again. Hopefully they will have a better chance this year! I look for your photos!
Debi, it is a great past time and I have learned so much about these birds and other birds in the doing. I never even saw a blue bird before I started doing this almost 10 years ago.
Lisa, I had a pre-digital zoom camera with various lenses, then it just stopped a few years ago which was a sad day. I hope one day to get a replacement. Hopefully you will too!
Someone in this household wants to know why you don't have a zoom lens:
Well Zoey it's on our list of things to get along with that really nice digital camera upgrade, you know how it can be someitmes....
