I remember that in each car we had a roll of quarters to call into home base.

Doug, awesome photo!  Now that was a real technological leap to be able to use the pay phone and not get out of your car.

Doug,  We were just talking about that this afternoon and also remembering the "bag phones."  We've come a long way - thank goodness:)

Hey, Doug and Gloria. What is that thing? Just kidding, but cool to hear that it still works. Thanks, Jim

Wow, you guys could make calls from your car back then? I didn't know these existed. (And I'm not kidding).

Love the idea of having a roll of quarters to call from the car... And just look how quickly technology advances now!

What is that thing... can you put it in your trunk and cary that with you?  What are the things coming out of the top?  Oh wires... so 1980's

Doug/Gloria,

That's pretty funny. I used to see them at the entrances to the Turnpike around here. Gone the way of the dodo bird.

Ellen, I remember making sure I had a dime in my pocket to make a local call.

Craig, and the longer we are around, more changes we will see!

Yvette and Dennise, heard of the bag phones from more seasoned agents in our office and they said that that was really cool in it's day!  Yes glad we have come a long way!

Jim and Maria, yes it is amazing it is still used on occassion.  Some people just like things how they are/were.....

Denise, it is amazing that some things have come and gone, but not at this phone booth in Media!

Dan, yeah, wires....like musicians from the 80's restricted by the cords on their microphones and guitars......

Richard, the lone lit up phone booth off in the distance on a stormy night home....can see a few in my memory now.

Elizabeth, yes phone booths were interesting things.  Don't miss looking for a phone number in the directory in a booth and having the page I need being torn out.

Monique, I hear you, but the one thing I do miss is the slower pace of life.

Diane, pay phones are like the dodo bird as Richard said.  I am amazed this still works.

Barbara, we have come a long way!  And so curious to see what's down the road!

Mike, thanks.  Gosh glad I showed you something you have never seen before it is totally gone!

Funny how you see far fewer phone booths today!

Hello Doug and Gloria - I wonder if there will come a day when there are no more pay phones?  Seems like everyone is connected in some other way.

Posted by Andy Chaudoir (Professional Inspection Services - Georgetown, Texas) about 1 month ago

Bill, yes they are harder and harder to find.

Andy, I imagine they will end up in museums and as a novelty item only.  Kind of like the way of the red phone booths in England.
