We entered the world of real estate before the wide spread use of the GPS. Taking out buyers to see a handful of houses required planning on my part to get the route in place so we would be on time for our appointments and to be familiar with the routes.
I remember drawing maps on the back of each page I printed for each house we were going to visit if it was in a neighborhood I was not familiar with intimately. And gosh if there was an unexpected detour we would have to refer to our five county road map that detailed all the roads in the county.
I remember being delighted that we won a Five County Street Map at a real estate function, you know those gatherings where you put your business card in a fish bowl at the door! It was such a helpful tool to win such a prize.
And then GPS's became more affordable. Doug purchased our first GPS and it was simply amazing. The hardest part was picking out the first house and then determining what order to visit houses for showings.
Now we use the GPS even when we know a route, because alerts are posted for delays which can be a time savor.
As a Realtor® I am forever grateful and thankful for the advancement in technology that has helped us save time, such as the GPS.
