Delaware County PA is a great place to live if you want to experience all four seasons every year. As of yesterday we are now in my favorite season of all, autumn.
Autumn, the season where gardens are winding down: gourds and pumpkins are beginning to show their full colors as Halloween and Thanksgiving are fast approaching; asters flowers' are fading as the goldfinches feast on their pods; squirrels will begin to get their winter coats; mosquitoes will be gone with the drop in temperatures; and of course the trees will begin to change colors!
In Delaware County we are so lucky to have magnificent autumn foliage displays! Bright yellows, oranges and reds will be on full display in just a few weeks with the backdrop of green and brown. There is nothing like it!
And for those people who cannot get enough, day trips north to the Pocono Mountains offers more immersion into the autumn foliage with the ability to see the colors a week or so before the peak reaches Delaware County.
I know other areas of the country have their own seasonal beauty, that cannot be denied, yet there is nothing like walking on a leaf covered trail in the woods taking in the fall colors and smelling the change of the season, while a gentle wind blows the leaves to the ground. Happy Autumn!
