Handmade Pyrohy or Pierogies stuffed with potato and cheese, sauerkraut and sometimes with fruit can be found in Delaware County at certain times of the year. Pyrohy and Pierogies are Ukrainian and Polish names for tasty stuffed dumplings of sorts that are made when a flat circle of dough, called a petal, encases a ball of stuffing and becomes a half circle with pinched edges. These stuffed half circles are then boiled, packaged and ready for sale.
