Why Is It So Hard To Find New Construction Houses With A Bedroom On The First Floor And Not Overflowing With Square Footage?

As we search almost in vein for new construction with a bedroom and a full bathroom on the first floor, I can not help but wonder why builders would not want to consider the group of buyers who may want to change to a living situation with just such a scenario.

With the buying power of the Baby Boomer Generation who are now entering their 60's and many more to follow, and the distressed economy, I just can not believe that there are not smaller houses with bedrooms offered on the first level of new construction.

Sure there are 55 Plus communities, but I wonder if a community was built with various style houses such as ranchers, 1.5 story, even two stories, but all with a bedroom or two and a full bath on the first floor, and not with massive amounts of square footage, how that would go?

Not every 55 plus person wants to live in an exclusive 55 Plus community.  There are some people who love the sound of children playing in their neighborhood and who want to remain surrounded by people of all ages as they age.

Stink Bugs

For the past few evenings I have been visited by a Stink Bug as it flies around the lamp over my computer. It hangs out on some papers near by, walks a little, then flies again. So I Googled them and what I found out was interesting to me. Apparently they seem to have arrived in South Eastern Pennsylvania in 1998 from Japan and China.  Allentown seems to be the place where they entered Pennsylvania.

I have never killed one so I do not know the smell they give off that renders their name. All I know is that they find a way into a house or building and hang out. They can be found in large groups if you don't watch out but they are relatively harmless to humans but can cause damage to plants of course.

To me they are curious insects that don't bother me for they don't bite, sting or attempt to irritate me as other insects can. They just hang out, move slowly and look like a tiny armored tank.
