Make Scarves For The Winter Special Olympics USA Scarf Project 2012  (Pennsylvania Deadline February 1, 2012)

Calling all Knitters and Crocheters, the Special Olympics wants scarves to distribute during the 2012 Winter Games in Johnstown, PA.  The deadline and location for items to be received for this event is February 1^st in Norristown, PA.  

If you are in another state please check this link - USA Scarves. 

These handmade scarves will be distributed during many events to all participants from the athletes, coaches, family members, to volunteers.

There are guidelines and requested colors to follow, but freedom in the choice of pattern or design used to make each scarf.

Saying Good Bye To My Furry Companion - Sunny

Love is a powerful thing: it can take you to the extremes in emotions from elation to deep sorrow.  It can help you do the impossible and stop you in your tracks. 

Opening up your heart to love is the greatest gift we can experience as humans.  

And opening up your heart to love involving a four-legged creature is to experience unconditional love for they do not share the same thought processes we do as humans.

My heart is aching because of such love.  16 years ago I opened my heart to Sunny, a one and a half year old cat in need of a new home.  Her abusive owner who needed to get “rid” of his second cat rejected her.  Her brother whom she lived with from birth was staying with her owner. Thus she came into my life totally dejected.

I opened my heart to this furry, hurt creature; I let her into my heart where no other animal had been before. After a period of time she realized I was a friend, not a foe and she became my companion, greeting me every time I returned home, following me around, sitting so she could look at me, sharing my bed with me, leading me around the house to places she wanted me to share with her.  She would always find a way to be in the center of my activities and thus in turn cemented her affections/love in my heart.

We traveled cross-country together to our new home. She was not a needy cat, able to play by herself and would alert me to things she thought needed my attention, like someone at the door or something unusual outside. 

For 16 years Sunny had been a healthy and very active cat until a tumor started to grow in her jaw.  On Dec 9th I had to put Sunny down.  This was a very painful role for me; no one else could make this decision.  The vet came to the house: Sunny was gone so quickly…

I miss her so: my heart just aches. 

As a person who has no children, this was the closest I will ever get to that experience of love from a child.  She had eyes for me, and responded to me until the end. 

Some friends ask:  “So when are you getting another cat?”  Sorry, but this is too painful.  I will have to pass.

Rest in peace my dear Sunny.  Thank you for your companionship.

Sinfully Delicious Gourmet Bakery has just expanded by opening a new location in Media on Monroe Street.  A former Le Bec-Fin chef, Andrew, along with his wife Tamorah offer the public wonderful baked items to order and from their daily offerings to everyone who has a sweet tooth.

At the new location in Media, one can eat freshly baked items; drink a fresh brewed cup of coffee while sitting inside on a cold winter’s day.  Tamorah (Tammy) oversees this location and would be happy to meet you.

Located just off State Street between WSFS Bank and County Beverage, one can easily stop for a respite from shopping or enjoy a snack before or after a show at Media Theater.  Stop in after you mail your letters at the post office.

What ever your reason for being in Media, make it a point to visit Sinfully Delicious Gourmet at 107 South Monroe Street.  Such a sweet place to visit!
