There is nothing like a locally grown succulent summer peach. One that has a wonderful smell, that is juicy when you bite into it, not mealy, and the seed is removed easily from the core.
The taste of such a good peach is simply wonderful.
To hit on such good peaches is a real summer treat, since their season is generally too short, in my opinion.
We had a few mealy peaches earlier in the season, then we went a bit later to Linvilla Orchards, which is in Delaware County, and I have to say we were hooked. We purchased the seconds that had bruises at a discount, but hey, they were good.
We made four visits to Linvilla, mid to late summer, where we purchased these wonderful summer peaches. Then one visit there were no peaches anywhere. Frown.
Until next summer, I will miss my tasty peach pies and the taste of small peach slices on my morning cereal.
